A bead-blasted black panel, three etched labels — INPUT, STRUCTURE, OUTPUT — and one oxide dot next to a serial. The whole of our process, machined into something you could drop.
Designing a screen lets you hide indecision behind states. Machining one does not: every label is permanent, so the wording had to be finished before the object could be.
The material decides whether an interface is believable.
Gloss plastic, even light, fingerprints. It stopped being an instrument and became an appliance.
Mood at the expense of the labels. If the words cannot be read, there is no interface in the frame.
