MEMORY

A material that keeps the shape of what happened to it.

Vertical frame of a surface holding the impression of something no longer present

Medium

Synthetic film / vertical study

The subject is not the event; it is the record the event leaves behind. We shot the aftermath and let the audience reconstruct the cause, which they do faster than any establishing shot could.

Slowest of the four. Nothing enters the frame after the first second — the change is entirely in the surface.

Later frame, the impression slowly relaxing back toward flat

A held frame we return to whenever a piece is over-explaining itself.
