Yellow Sketch is a motion design, illustration and graphic design studio. Their work is animation, character, typography and printed matter — made for brands who want something drawn, not stocked.
The old site read like a folder. Stills of moving work, a list of services, no sense of the hand behind any of it.
The new site had to do the one thing a motion studio's site must do: show motion, immediately, without a play button standing in the way.
Give a motion, illustration and graphic design studio a portfolio that moves the moment it opens.
Three crafts under one name, and a reel that was being judged on still thumbnails.
- Studio identity system for web
- 1 site — 9 templates
- Motion index with autoplaying loops
- Case study, illustration archive and print templates
- Build, encoding pipeline and launch
The reel plays on arrival, and one drawn system holds motion, illustration and graphic design together.
A studio that works across three crafts risks reading as three studios. Motion, illustration and graphic design each attract a different client and each has its own vocabulary.
Static thumbnails were flattening the reel. Animation was being judged as a still frame.
And the studio's own character — warm, drawn, slightly irreverent — was nowhere in the interface. The work was theirs; the website was anyone's.

LETTHE WORKMOVE.
Every index tile is a loop, not a poster. The reel plays on the page and the page gets out of its way.
One drawn system holds all three crafts: shared grid, shared type, shared colour, with the discipline named quietly rather than partitioned into silos.
The index is a motion wall — muted, autoplaying loops that resolve into full case studies with frame breakdowns, boards and process artwork.
Case studies carry the craft they document: motion pieces open on the loop, illustration pieces open on the drawing, identity pieces open on the printed object.
Filters read as editorial labels — motion, illustration, graphic design — so a client can find their language in one tap without the site fragmenting into three sites.
Everything holds on a phone, where most reels are actually watched: loops are lighter, the grid becomes a single column, and the type keeps its drawn character.

Loops were encoded per tile and lazily attached, so the index plays instantly without the page carrying the weight of a full reel.
The type and colour system was drawn alongside the studio's own illustration language rather than fitted over it afterwards.
A portfolio should behave like the craft it is selling.
