An object described entirely by what it displaces.
Object study / weight
One stone, one raking light, one floor. The subject is never the object: it is the shadow, the dust pushed aside at the contact edge, the darker patch of concrete under the mass.
If you cover the shadow, the frame stops working. That was the test, and it is the only thing the study proves.
Weight lives in the contact edge, not the silhouette.
The shadow detached from the base. The object stopped resting on the floor and started sitting on top of the photograph.
Two lights, two shadows, two answers about where the weight goes. Mass needs one direction to fall in.
Two frames survived. Both now hang in the studio.
